Your Weekend Weather Guide for Spain: August 3-5

If you’re planning something fun this weekend in Spain, you’ll want to know what the weather has in store. Here’s a simple rundown of what to expect from August 3rd to 5th, 2024.

August 3: Hot and Mostly Sunny

This Saturday, Spain will be basking in mostly clear skies. You can expect a lot of sunshine across most of the country, which is great news for any outdoor plans you might have. However, don’t be surprised if you run into some early morning showers in eastern Cataluña. Similarly, the northern parts of Galicia and the Cantabrian region might see a bit of light rain earlier in the day.

As the day progresses, clouds will start to build up in mountainous regions like the Pyrenees and the eastern Iberian System. These areas might experience isolated showers later in the afternoon. In the Canary Islands, expect strong trade winds, which could be a bit gusty.

Temperatures will be quite high, especially in the southern parts of Spain and the northeast. In the Guadalquivir valley, you might even see temperatures rise up to 40°C (104°F). On the Mediterranean coast, nighttime temperatures will remain relatively warm, not dropping below 25°C (77°F).

August 4: Mostly Stable with Some Clouds

Sunday’s weather will remain stable with mostly clear skies. It’s a great day to be outside, although there might be some morning clouds and fog in northern Galicia and along the Atlantic coast of Andalucía. Alboran could also see some low clouds and coastal fog.

In the afternoon, expect clouds to develop over the mountain ranges in the eastern part of Spain and the Pyrenees. There’s a chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms, particularly in the eastern parts of the Central System and the Pyrenees.

While temperatures will decrease slightly along the Mediterranean coast and in the Canary Islands, they will rise a bit in most other parts of mainland Spain. You can still expect some very hot conditions, especially in the southern Atlantic coast and the northeast, where temperatures might climb back up to 40°C (104°F).

August 5: Warm with Possible Afternoon Showers

Monday will continue with the trend of clear skies across most of Spain. Morning fog might linger in Galicia, the Cantabrian region, and the high Ebro. Coastal fog and haze are also possible in Alboran.

In the afternoon, clouds will build up again in the mountainous areas of northeastern Spain, and there’s a chance of isolated showers or storms, especially in the eastern Pyrenees and the eastern Iberian System. The Canary Islands may still experience some haze.

Temperatures will rise a bit in eastern Spain and the Balearics, while they might drop slightly in Galicia, southwestern AndalucĂa, and the Catalan coasts. In the Canary Islands, you can expect temperatures to cool down a bit.

Throughout the weekend, winds will generally be light. Expect moderate trade winds in the Canaries and varying breezes elsewhere, with stronger winds possible along the coasts.

With this weather guide, you should be all set for a great weekend. Whether you’re heading out to enjoy the sunshine or planning for a cooler spot, make sure to stay hydrated and enjoy the beautiful weather!
