Just two weeks after intense flooding struck Valencia and other areas of Spain, another DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) is expected to hit, bringing more challenging weather. This new DANA is forecasted to impact the Mediterranean regions, including the Iberian Peninsula, and the Balearic Islands. Starting Tuesday, November 12, temperatures across these areas are expected to drop significantly as cold air moves south from northern Europe.

Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and rough seas are likely in affected coastal and mountainous areas. For instance, Mallorca and Ibiza could see intense rainfall, with some areas potentially experiencing up to 80 mm of rain by Tuesday. Northern areas, including the Cantabrian region and the Pyrenees, might also see snowfall, with snow levels dropping to 800-1,000 meters.

Early Flooding Reports in Almería Ahead of DANA Arrival

Even before the new DANA has fully arrived, residents of Almería are already experiencing some flooding. The N332 Facebook group has reported instances of flooding in several areas. These early reports highlight the growing concerns about the incoming storm, as rainfall and unstable weather conditions begin to impact the region. With the full force of the DANA expected to hit in the coming days, local authorities and residents are urged to stay alert and take precautionary measures to avoid further damage.

AEMET Urges Caution

Given the recent flooding and loss of life, AEMET is emphasizing caution, especially in coastal and mountainous areas prone to flooding and landslides. The agency is advising residents to follow its official website and app for real-time updates on the storm’s development.

AEMET has warned against scam messages circulating, falsely claiming to be from the agency. These messages contain links to fraudulent sites. The agency advises not to click on any suspicious links and to only download its official app through authorized stores.

Possible Relief by the End of the Week

The storm may begin to ease by Thursday, potentially weakening into a regular storm system. However, AEMET warns that weather patterns remain unpredictable, and residents are encouraged to stay vigilant.
