Ed Sheeran Enjoys the Sights and Flavours of Madrid

Before even stepping on stage, Ed Sheeran had already won over Madrid. The British singer, in town for two massive concerts as part of his Mathematics European Tour 2025, shared a light-hearted travel diary with fans via Instagram, capturing the essence of the city in just 30 seconds.

In the video, Ed shows off his usual sense of humour by stopping at one of his own concert posters, signing it, and even drawing a beard and moustache on his photo. It’s not the first time he’s played with his own image, and fans love this down-to-earth side of him.

But his time in Madrid wasn’t just for fun and games. He made the most of the capital like a true local. He was spotted sipping a cold beer in a traditional bar, listening to a street violinist near the Almudena Cathedral, and learning how to make churros at the famous Churrería 1883, apron and all.

Ed also visited the famous StreetXO restaurant, where he sampled fusion dishes created by celebrity chef Dabiz Muñoz. And, true to his roots, he made a stop at the Official Irish Pub, planting a kiss on the sign with a big grin. His short but sweet video ended with shots of Madrid’s street art and city lights, proof that the city captured his heart once again.

A Full House at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano

When it came time for the concerts, Ed Sheeran didn’t disappoint. Over 70,000 fans packed into the stadium each night. He kicked off the show with a burst of energy, literally running onto the stage, but tripped and fell in front of the crowd. Always the professional, he quickly stood up, dusted himself off, and laughed it off before diving into his two-hour set.

The concert included nearly 30 songs, covering his full career, from early acoustic hits to explosive rock anthems. He switched effortlessly between electric and acoustic guitars, balancing upbeat tracks with emotional ballads.

A Surprise Duet and a Night to Remember

One of the biggest surprises of the night was when singer Tori Kelly joined Ed on stage. Together, they performed I Was Made for Loving You live for the first time, to the delight of fans. Kelly had already opened the show earlier in the evening, but the duet was a special moment that caught the audience by surprise.

The concert was a full-on production, complete with rotating stages, fire effects, LED screens, and fireworks. It marked Ed’s first return to Spain in six years, and judging by the crowd’s reaction, it was well worth the wait.

Ed Sheeran’s Tour Continues

Ed Sheeran will continue his European tour with stops in France, Italy, and Germany. His new album Play is set for release on September 12, featuring previously released songs like Old Phone, Slowly, and Azizam. Another track, Spahire, will drop on June 5.

For now, Madrid has clearly made a lasting impression on the star. And based on the fans’ reaction, the feeling is mutual.
