High-Speed Chase Ends in Deadly Collision Near Torremolinos
In the early hours of the morning, June 5, a robbery at a pharmacy in Málaga led to a tragic police chase ending in a fatal crash. Around 4:55 a.m., emergency services received a call reporting a break-in at a pharmacy on Calle Lope de Rueda. Unlike previous robberies that used vehicles to smash into buildings, the thieves carefully disabled the security system on the door and tried to break open the safe with heavy tools but failed.
Chase Ends in Deadly Crash on AP-7
Police arrived quickly, and a chase began. The suspects fled in a van, driving the wrong way on the AP-7 towards Torremolinos. Police officers followed the van, trying to catch the suspects. At about 5:10 a.m., emergency services were alerted to a serious crash near exit 998 on the motorway.
The van with the suspects collided with another car. The impact was so strong that the driver’s car caught fire. The victims were trapped inside the vehicles. Firefighters from nearby areas arrived to rescue those involved.
Four People Lose Their Lives
The crash resulted in four deaths. The three suspects, all Albanian men believed to be part of a gang that often used cars to smash into stores, died at the scene. The other victim was a 48-year-old police officer driving the other vehicle that was involved in the crash. He was off duty and returning home after his night shift. He was trapped in his car and, despite rescue efforts by local police, he also died from the accident.
