Carlos Alcaraz Withdraws from Madrid Open

Carlos Alcaraz won’t be playing in this year’s Madrid Open after picking up an injury in the final of the Barcelona Open. The 21-year-old Spanish tennis star, from El Palmar in the Region of Murcia, hurt his right adductor during his match against Holger Rune on Sunday, April 20.

Injury Forces Alcaraz to Rest Ahead of Major Tournaments

Alcaraz, who’s won the Madrid Open twice, had hoped the injury wouldn’t be too serious. But after medical tests, it was clear he needs some rest to avoid making things worse. ‘I need to listen to my body,’ Alcaraz said. He’s now focusing on making sure he’s fully recovered for his next big goal: Roland Garros, the French Open.

A Tough Call for the Young Tennis Star

It’s a tough break for Carlos Alcaraz, especially since Madrid is one of his favorite tournaments. But he knows that playing through the pain could keep him from being in top shape for Paris. ‘It’s a hard decision, but it’s the right one. I need to rest and be ready for Roland Garros,’ he explained.

Looking Ahead to Rome and Roland Garros

Despite the setback, Alcaraz is staying positive. He believes he’ll be back on the court soon, with his eyes set on the Rome Masters starting May 7. ‘I’m not too worried about the injury. I think it’ll take about a week to two weeks to recover,’ he said.

For now, Alcaraz is focused on getting healthy and ready for Roland Garros, where he’ll be looking to make another strong run at one of tennis’ biggest titles.

Carlos Alcaraz: My Way – New Netflix Documentary

Off the court, Alcaraz recently released his Netflix documentary, Carlos Alcaraz: My Way. The series offers a look into the life of the young tennis star, showing how he manages the pressures of his skyrocketing career while still trying to enjoy the freedom of being 20/21 years old. Fans get an inside look at the person behind the professional athlete, balancing intense training with the desire to let loose and live life.
