Kyle Alessandro: The Málaga Native Who’s Representing Norway at Eurovision

At just 19 years old, Kyle Alessandro is already making an impact in the world of music. Representing Norway at Eurovision 2025 with his song Lighter, Kyle may be flying the Norwegian flag, but his heart is firmly tied to Spain. With a Spanish father from Madrid and a Norwegian mother, Kyle proudly calls himself ‘half Spanish, half Norwegian.’ His family speaks Spanish at home, and their vacations always take them to Fuengirola, a town on Spain’s Costa del Sol.

A Personal Tribute with Lighter

Kyle’s song Lighter is more than just a Eurovision entry, it’s a tribute to his mother, who battled and overcame cancer. The emotional depth behind the song is one of the reasons it has captured attention, and it adds a special layer of meaning to his performance. Music has been a part of Kyle’s life from an early age. At just 11, he released his debut album Første kapittel (First Chapter) and followed it with singles like Din sang and Boomerang in 2017, gaining a lot of praise in Norway.

Deep Spanish Roots in His Identity

Kyle’s connection to Spain is not just a passing family tradition, it’s woven into the very fabric of who he is. His father, originally from Madrid, moved to Fuengirola as a child, while his mother grew up in Andalucía. Despite growing up in Norway, Kyle’s parents made sure to keep the Spanish culture alive in their home. They spoke Spanish, celebrated Spanish traditions, and spent every summer in Fuengirola, a place Kyle now calls his second home. This deep-rooted connection to Spain has played a huge role in shaping his identity.

A Fresh Face at Eurovision

In February 2025, Kyle won the Melodi Grand Prix, securing his spot as Norway’s Eurovision representative. Fans are eagerly awaiting his performance, thanks to his mix of Norwegian and Spanish influences. It’s this mix of cultures that makes Kyle stand out, and many believe it will make him a favorite on the Eurovision stage.

From his early days on Norske Talenter (Norwegian Talent) to his Eurovision debut, Kyle Alessandro is proving that talent knows no borders. His journey, driven by both his Norwegian and Spanish heritage, is just beginning, and it’s one that’s sure to resonate with Eurovision audiences across Europe. Keep an eye on this rising star, he’s got a lot more to show!
