British Man Dies After Fall From Segovia Aqueduct Viewpoint
A 63-year-old man with a UK passport died on Saturday, April 12, after falling from a viewpoint at the Segovia Aqueduct. The incident occurred around 1:10 PM in the area of the steps leading to the Postigo balcony, a popular spot for tourists and locals to view the historic aqueduct.
Emergency Response and On-Site Efforts
Numerous calls to the 112 Castilla y León emergency services reported that a person had fallen and was unconscious. Emergency services, including local and national police, and medical personnel, arrived at the scene. Paramedics attempted to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Circumstances Under Investigation
Initial reports suggest the man may have been sitting on the viewpoint’s ledge when he lost his balance and fell backward. The height of the viewpoint made the fall fatal. Judicial authorities and forensic teams are investigating the exact circumstances of the death to rule out any other possibilities.
Visitor Details and Official Involvement
According to reports, the man had arrived in Segovia on Thursday with two other people, possibly friends or family. It is not known if they were present at the time of the incident. The UK Embassy has been notified.
