Spain Beats France to Reach Nations League Final
Spain wins 5–4 and secures a place in the final
Spain has made it to the UEFA Nations League final after a thrilling 5–4 win against France on Thursday night, June 5, in Stuttgart. It was an exciting game from start to finish, with Spain playing confident, attacking football.
Luis de la Fuente’s team started strong and looked in control for most of the match. Spain’s goals came from Nico Williams, Mikel Merino, Pedri and two impressive strikes from 16-year-old Lamine Yamal, who continues to shine on the international stage.
France struggled in the first half, but staged a comeback in the second half. Kylian Mbappé scored twice, Rayan Cherki added another, and an own goal by Spain’s Dani Vivian brought France close. However, Spain held on to the lead and booked their place in the final.
Final to be played this Sunday in Munich
Spain will now play in the Nations League final on Sunday, June 9th at 9 pm (Spanish time). The match will be held at the Allianz Arena in Munich, the home stadium of Bayern Munich. It’s one of the most famous football venues in Europe.
Spain to face Portugal for the trophy
Their opponent in the final will be Portugal, who reached the final by beating tournament hosts Germany. Portugal’s squad includes Cristiano Ronaldo, who remains a key player for his country. This will be the first time Spain and Portugal face each other in a Nations League final.
The last meeting between the two sides in this competition ended in a narrow 1–0 win for Spain, with Álvaro Morata scoring the winner.
A chance to make Nations League history
Spain is aiming to win the Nations League for the second time, after claiming the title in 2023. If they win on Sunday, they will become the first national team to win the tournament twice since it began in 2018.
The current Spanish squad has shown great progress under coach Luis de la Fuente, combining young talents like Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams with experienced players like Dani Carvajal. Their performance against France has raised hopes for another trophy.
All eyes will be on Munich this Sunday, as Spain looks to make history against a tough Portuguese side.
