UEFA Investigates Real Madrid Players for Indecent Conduct
UEFA has launched an investigation into Real Madrid players Antonio Rüdiger, Kylian Mbappé, Dani Ceballos, and Vinícius Júnior over alleged ‘indecent conduct’ following their victory against Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. The investigation focuses on their post-match celebrations at the Metropolitano Stadium on March 12, 2025.
Controversial Celebrations Under Scrutiny
The allegations center on actions taken by the players during their celebrations in front of Atlético Madrid fans. Reports suggest that Rüdiger made a throat-slitting gesture, Mbappé touched his genitals, and Vinícius engaged in a confrontation with the crowd. Some Atlético Madrid supporters responded by throwing bottles and other objects onto the field. UEFA is also considering disciplinary measures against Atlético Madrid for the fan behavior.
Real Madrid to Submit Defense
A UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has been appointed to gather evidence. Real Madrid will have the opportunity to present arguments in defense of their players. The outcome could lead to suspensions or fines if violations of UEFA’s Disciplinary Regulations are confirmed.
Next Steps in the UEFA Investigation
The case is now in the information-gathering stage. UEFA will release further details as the investigation progresses. If found guilty, the Real Madrid players could face penalties that impact their participation in upcoming Champions League matches.
