Ukrainian Couple Dies After Falling from Málaga Building
A Ukrainian couple tragically died after falling from the eighth floor of a building in Málaga’s Cruz del Humilladero district on Tuesday, April 1. The couple, aged 64 and 60, were living in the building temporarily. Authorities have pointed to a possible suicide, though the investigation is still ongoing.
The Incident: Early Morning Fall
Around 7:50 AM, several residents called Emergency Services 112, reporting a loud explosion coming from the building at the intersection of Madre Teresa de Calcuta and Encio streets. However, the Policia Nacional confirmed that there was no explosion. The noise was attributed to the impact of the couple’s fall. Witnesses saw the man and woman lying on the sidewalk after they had fallen from the eighth floor.
Investigation and Initial Findings
The police have ruled out a case of domestic violence, with no signs of foul play. The investigation has suggested that the deaths may have been a result of suicide, but there are still many unknowns. It appears the woman fell first, followed by her partner. The couple had recently rented a room in the building from a local Ukrainian woman working in cleaning services.
Police and Emergency Response
Emergency responders, including police, firefighters, and medical teams, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. The authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances of the tragic event.
What We Know So Far
The couple’s identities have been confirmed as Ukrainian nationals, both living in Málaga for a short time. Investigators have not found any connection to domestic violence, and the case remains open. The tragic event has shaken the local community, and the police are working diligently to uncover more details.
