Investigation Reopened into the Death of Mango Founder Isak Andic

Isak Andic, the founder of Mango, tragically lost his life on December 14, 2024, while hiking in Collbató, Barcelona. The 71-year-old businessman was an avid hiker and was accompanied by his eldest son when he fell 150 meters down a ravine near the Salnitre Caves in the Montserrat mountain range.

Initial Investigation and Closure

Following the accident, authorities launched an investigation, and in January, the Martorell Court of Instruction No. 5 provisionally closed the case. The Mossos d’Esquadra police concluded that Andic’s death was accidental. Their findings were based on witness statements, an autopsy report, and their own examination of the scene.

Case Reopened for Further Review

Despite the initial closure, the same court has now reopened the investigation. According to sources close to the case, it is not uncommon for courts to revisit similar cases to analyze additional police reports or toxicology results, which often take longer to process than autopsies.

Ongoing Police Investigation

While the official cause of death remains an accident, police are continuing their inquiries. Investigators have analyzed Andic’s phone, which was recovered a day after the incident, and have taken statements from other hikers who were in the area.

The Events of That Day

On the day of the accident, Andic and his son were hiking a well-known route between the Salnitre Caves and the Montserrat Monastery. Recent rain had made the path slippery, creating hazardous conditions. As they made their way back, Andic’s son, walking ahead, heard a rockslide. When he turned around, he saw his father lose his footing and fall down the ravine.

Andic was one of Spain’s wealthiest people and a key figure in the fashion industry. His sudden passing shocked both the business world and the hiking community.
